Campaign Stages in Z Route: Redemption

Published: 2026-10-27

A stage in Z Route: Redemption is a run along a road. Your squad moves forward, you pick gates, the squad shoots zombies, and a boss waits at the end. The early campaign counts 204 stages, and power, weapon upgrades and gate choices decide the result. This page explains how a run works and gives tips for the stages that block your progress.

How Stages Work

On the road you meet gates and barrels with numbers. Gates give supplies, medkits, ammo and buffs, and some of them lead into a horde. Your squad of five heroes does the fighting. After a win the game shows a damage window for each hero, so you can see who carried the stage and who only stood nearby. Spend upgrades on the heroes at the top of that list first.

Before a fight the screen shows your squad power against the enemy power. A large lead means a safe run, and a small lead means the gates and the boss decide the result. The running part takes only the first minutes of the game. After that, progress depends on your base and your heroes, so read the base page and the power guide for upgrades.

Early Campaign Length

The first stretch of the campaign has 204 stages. After it, one guide describes a road on an armored transporter, and the first stages there are easier than stage 204. Starter events ask for campaign progress, and the current event table lists targets at blocks 10, 20, 31, 62 and 107. Aim for the next target instead of the last one, and stop to upgrade when the next stage needs a big jump in power.

The events page covers Dawn Breakout, a five-stage run that follows a similar road and ranks the number of surviving soldiers.

Choosing Gates

In the first days take the gates that give supplies, medkits, ammo and long buffs. Risky gates are for squads that already clear the waves cleanly, and you should avoid them right before a boss, because losing health there ends the run. A short damage boost is worth less than the health you keep for the boss.

Boss Fights

A boss hits an area, and the area appears as red markings on the ground. Auto play does not leave it, so pull the squad out of the zone by hand. Move in short steps, shoot, then step away again.

Before each boss, check three things: the upgrade level of your weapon, the damage and defense of your squad, and your stock of buffs. If you lose to the same boss again and again, the cause is usually too many bad gates, a weapon that is not upgraded or upgrade materials spread across weak heroes.

Squad for Hard Stages

Two heroes in the front row defend and three in the back row attack. The strongest attacker goes in the center. One guide says a gold 2-star hero beats a purple 4-star one when the skills are upgraded, so star count is not everything. Build a strong core of five heroes instead of spreading materials over many weak ones.

The hero tier list shows which heroes lead each role, and the squads page has team builds that use faction bonuses. The gear page covers weapon and armor upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many stages are there in Z Route Redemption?

The early campaign counts 204 stages. After that stretch a road on an armored transporter opens, and its first stages are easier than stage 204. Event task lists call stages blocks, and the starter event table lists targets at blocks 10, 20, 31, 62 and 107. Keep upgrading your squad between pushes, since the power needed grows from stage to stage.

How do you beat a hard boss?

Check your weapon upgrades, your squad damage and defense, and your stock of buffs before you start the boss fight. Move the squad out of red ground markings by hand, because the boss hits those areas. One guide says to try a hard boss about five times, and the stage after the level that needs upgrades usually gets easier.

Which gates should I pick?

In the first days take gates with supplies, medkits, ammo and long buffs. Pick risky gates only when your squad clears the waves cleanly, and do not risk your health right before a boss. If your health is low, a medkit gate is a better choice than a gate that offers a new weapon.

What is the best squad setup for stages?

Put two heroes in the front row to defend and three in the back row to attack, with the strongest attacker in the center. One guide says a gold 2-star hero beats a purple 4-star one when the skills are upgraded. Pick the main team early and put your upgrades into it instead of spreading them across weak heroes.

What should I do when a stage is too hard?

Stop pushing for a while if the next stage needs a large power jump. Improve your main team, upgrade the main weapon, raise your Base level and return later. A higher Base raises the hero cap, so it gives your squad room to grow.
