Base Upgrade Requirements in Z Route: Redemption
The Base has 30 levels, and most upgrades need one or two other buildings at a set level plus Food, Metal and, from Base 9, Oil. Timers grow from seconds at the start to 101d 14h 30m for the last level. Each level also raises the hero level cap by 5, up to 150 at Base 30. The table below lists all 30 levels.
Base Level Table
Read a row as the price of reaching that level. The buildings in the Requirements column must already sit at the listed level before you can start the upgrade.

Costs show the base cost before construction cost reductions. In the game the price can be lower, because bonuses to construction cost cut it.
Max Base Level
The highest Base level is 30. A building cannot go past your Base level, so the Base caps every other upgrade, and the hero level cap climbs 5 levels with each Base level: 5 at Base 1, 50 at Base 10, 100 at Base 20 and 150 at Base 30. Once your main heroes hit the cap, a new Base level is the only way to keep leveling them. The heroes page shows who is worth that investment.
Base 9 and Base 30
Base 9 is the first level that costs Oil. Its row asks for Alpha Research Division 8, Training Center (one class) 8, 598,500 Food, 598,500 Metal and 199,500 Oil, and the timer runs 4h 22m. It raises the hero level cap to 45. The Gear Craft Center and the Gear Material Factory open at Base 9, so this level is where gear crafting starts.
Base 30 is the final level. It asks for Drill Ground 29, Alpha Research Division 29, and the base cost before reductions is 1,399,300,000 Food, 1,399,300,000 Metal and 459,770,000 Oil. The timer reads 101d 14h 30m, and the reward is a hero level cap of 150.
Base Level Requirements
Every upgrade from Base 2 on lists two prerequisites. They change from level to level, but a pattern holds: from Base 8 to Base 30, one of them is always the Alpha Research Division, one level below the new Base level. The other slot rotates between the buildings in this table.
| Building | Upgrades that need it | First needed for Base |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha Research Division | 23 | 8 |
| Defense Line | 10 | 2 |
| Training Center | 7 | 7 |
| Drill Ground | 6 | 2 |
| Soldier Training Camp | 5 | 4 |
| Alliance Center | 3 | 8 |
| Hospital | 3 | 10 |
| Squad | 1 | 2 |
The Training Center line means one of the three class centers, Warrior, Assault or Tactical, at the level shown. The Alpha Research Division sits inside the Research Center, which opens at Base 7.
Base Upgrade Guide
Upgrade the buildings the next row names and leave the rest alone. A balanced city looks tidy, but a building that does not unlock the next Base level can wait. Before you finish the current upgrade, read the next row, so the next prerequisite is already underway when the timer ends.
The order follows the table above. Alpha Research Division comes first, since it blocks the most upgrades. Defense Line, the Training Centers and Drill Ground come next, and the Hospital, the Alliance Center and the Soldier Training Camp each block a few levels. If you own several copies of one building, one guide says to keep one at the level you need and let the others lag.
Resources decide the pace after Base 20. The Food cost rises about 82 percent from Base 19 to Base 20, so start saving early. One guide says to keep Resource Selection Chests unopened until you know which resource blocks the next upgrade. Your resources page covers Barns, warehouses and where each resource comes from.
A higher Base also pays back in power. It raises the hero cap, and one guide says that Transport Truck rewards grow with your Base level, which you can read about on the trucks page. New players can follow the beginner guide for the first days.
This first-hours walkthrough shows the early base, the first building upgrades and the Road to Survival tasks.
HQ Rush
Rushing the HQ, which is the Base, means putting every builder on the Base chain. Guides agree that the Base beats an evenly developed city, because the hero level cap it opens is worth more than small gains elsewhere. Three habits make a rush faster.
- Keep the Alpha Research Division close to the Base requirement curve. It is a prerequisite for every upgrade from Base 8 to Base 30, so falling behind on it stalls the Base.
- Ask your alliance for help right after you start a timer. Alliance assistance shortens construction, and the Alliance Center level sets how many helps you receive: level 1 gives 4 and level 2 gives 5.
- Use both builders on the same chain. One guide says to put builder 1 on the current Base prerequisite and builder 2 one step ahead, and to stagger the finish times so a builder never sits idle.
Base Shield
A shield blocks enemy attacks on your base. Shields are items that come as 24-hour, 12-hour and 8-hour bubbles. Free Peace Shields and Teleports sit in the Alliance Shop and cost Alliance Coins, which you earn by contributing to alliance research. One guide says to hold one 24-hour shield or three 8-hour shields for Saturday, day 6 of the alliance competition, when attacks peak. The VS page explains that schedule.
The Defense Line also protects the base. Its Garrison menu lets you choose which squads defend, and an unticked squad stays out of the fight, which cuts your losses. The Barn and the Metal Warehouse keep part of your Food and Metal safe from attacks. One guide adds that your shield drops if you attack a base, join a rally or send a drone, and that Battle Frenzy then blocks a new shield for 15 minutes.
Key Buildings by Level
Each Base level opens new buildings. This table lists the main ones with the Base level where they appear, and links to the page that covers each system.

The Highway Tavern, where you recruit heroes and survivors, opens after you clear Block 8 of the campaign instead of at a Base level. Base skins and decorations have their own skins page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the max base level in Z Route Redemption?
Base level 30 is the highest. Each Base level lifts the hero level cap by 5, so the cap grows from 5 at Base 1 to 150 at Base 30. No building can go past your Base level, so every other upgrade waits on the Base sooner or later.
What does Base 9 need to upgrade?
Base 9 needs Alpha Research Division 8, one Training Center 8. The upgrade costs 598,500 Food, 598,500 Metal and 199,500 Oil and takes 4h 22m. Finishing it lifts the hero level cap to 45.
What does Base 30 need to upgrade?
Base 30 needs Drill Ground 29 and Alpha Research Division 29. The base cost before construction cost reductions is 1,399,300,000 Food, 1,399,300,000 Metal and 459,770,000 Oil, with a timer of 101d 14h 30m. It raises the hero level cap to 150.
How do I rush HQ in Z Route Redemption?
Read the next row of the table, then upgrade only the two buildings it names. Alpha Research Division is the usual blocker, because it appears in 23 of 29 upgrades. Keep both builders busy, ask your alliance for help on every timer and save speedups for the blocking building.
How does the base shield work in Z Route?
A shield is an item that blocks enemy attacks on your base while it lasts, and it comes in 8-hour, 12-hour and 24-hour versions. Free Peace Shields cost Alliance Coins in the Alliance Shop. Put a shield up before you log off, because a single raid can wipe out your soldiers.
