Carter in Z Route: Redemption
Carter is a UR Warrior Support hero, rated A in 5 of 6 popular tier lists and tracked on the tier list page. He is the only hero in the Support position: his falcon raises the ATK of every ally, and his passive shields the strongest attacker. He adds little damage himself, so he pays off next to a real carry.
Carter Skills
His list covers a revolver, a falcon buff, a passive and the specialty skill of UR rarity. The damage type is Radiation, yet his main skill deals no damage at all. The heroes page holds the shared rules for levels and stars, so the table below keeps to Carter.
| Skill | Type | Unlocks at | Effect | Star upgrades |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heavy Revolver | Auto attack | Base skill | Fires the revolver every 1.35 seconds. | Star 1 gives 35% more damage, star 3 gives 130% and star 5 gives 265%. |
| Hawkeye | Active buff, no damage | Hero level 5 | Sends a falcon that raises the ATK of all allies for several seconds. | Lasts 7 s at 1 star, adds 10% crit rate at 2 stars, adds 3% ATK at 3 stars, lasts 8 s at 4 stars and raises the ATK boost to 6% at 5 stars. |
| Sheriff | Passive | Hero level 21 | Raises Carter's own cooldown speed and cuts the damage taken by the ally with the highest ATK. | Across the five stars, cooldown speed goes 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, 15% and the damage cut goes 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%. |
| Doomsday Judgment | Specialty skill | Level 31, needs 4 stars | +20% ATK, DEF and HP, +10% cooldown speed. | Unchanged by further stars. |
The buff from Hawkeye is temporary. It lasts several seconds and then waits for its cooldown, so the ATK bonus is not on the whole fight. Stars matter more here than for most heroes because they add duration, crit rate and a larger ATK boost. A falcon that lasts 8 seconds at 4 stars covers a bigger part of the fight than the 7 seconds of a 1 star Carter, and the 6% boost at 5 stars comes on top.
Skill Priority
The team skill comes first, as for every hero who has one.
- Hawkeye. It lifts the damage of the whole squad and gets better with every star, so it takes the first books.
- Sheriff. It cuts damage on the strongest attacker, up to 5% at 5 stars, and speeds up Carter's own cooldowns by up to 15%.
- Heavy Revolver. The revolver adds little because Carter is not a carry.
- Doomsday Judgment. It opens at 4 stars and hero level 31.
Raise him after the heroes he supports. Without Monroe and Arnold there is nobody to buff, so the shards belong to them first. A Support hero turns other heroes' damage into more damage, which means his value grows with the quality of the squad around him and shrinks to almost nothing in a squad of weak attackers.
Stats and Gear
With level 150, 5 stars and no gear, Carter reaches 22,050 ATK, 486,558 HP, 351 command and 1,078,453 power. His HP is the seventh highest among UR heroes and his ATK is the ninth, which describes a middle body with a weak weapon.
Keep him out of the carry gear queue. Rifle and Scope pay off on a hero who deals damage, and Carter is not that hero, so extra gear belongs on the carries. Treat his own gear as the last priority of the squad.
How to Get Carter
English guides give no route, so the reports come from elsewhere: a store promotion, the Oasis Market event and recruitment in the Tavern. Availability varies by region and event, so check the offers in your own game. Free gift codes help in the meantime.
Best Team for Carter
Carter fits the five-Warrior lineup and its 20% faction bonus: Arnold and Dirk take the first row, and Monroe, Lucian, Carter take the second, with Monroe in the center.
| Partner | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Monroe | Carter's ATK buff feeds her rocket volleys. Monroe takes the back center and Carter a side slot. |
| Lucian | A second carry on the backline, and Sheriff can point at him as the highest-ATK ally. |
| Arnold and Dirk | Two Warrior tanks in front, so the buffed carriers have time to deal damage. |
A mixed squad also works: Arnold, Bekka, Monroe, Carter and Silas give a smaller bonus than five Warriors. The squad guide compares the formations.
Carter vs Bekka
Both are UR heroes who support a squad, but they sit in different rows and factions.
| Hero | Faction | Position | Tier | HP at level 150 | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carter | Warrior | Support | A, 5 of 6 lists | 486,558 | 1,078,453 |
| Bekka | Tactical | Frontline | S, 5 of 7 lists | 992,082 | 1,233,156 |
One guide suggests Carter for the five-Warrior squad with its 20% bonus and Bekka for mixed squads, because she stands in front and cuts Radiation damage. If you build Warriors, raise Carter first and Bekka later. For Tacticals the choice is already made by the faction.
Is Carter Worth It?
Yes, for a Warrior squad with a real carry. He sits in the A tier with 5 of 6 lists in agreement. His limits are plain: low attack, a buff that is not up the whole fight and no use without Monroe or Lucian. Raise him after the carries and the tanks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Carter good in Z Route Redemption?
Yes, as a supporter. Carter is rated A in 5 of 6 popular tier lists and is the only Support hero in the game. Hawkeye raises the ATK of every ally, so he is worth raising once a damage dealer such as Monroe or Lucian is built. As a carrier he is weak: his ATK is 22,050 at level 150.
What does Carter do in Z Route Redemption?
Carter buffs the squad. His active skill Hawkeye sends a falcon that raises the ATK of all allies for several seconds, and the passive Sheriff reduces damage taken by the ally with the highest ATK. He deals little damage himself, so he fits in the back row of a Warrior squad, beside the main carry.
Which Carter skill should I level first?
Hawkeye first, then Sheriff. Hawkeye is the reason to play him, since it lifts the damage of the whole squad. Sheriff follows and protects the strongest attacker. Heavy Revolver and Doomsday Judgment come last, and the fourth skill needs 4 stars and hero level 31. Do not level the revolver before the buff.
Where should I place Carter in the formation?
Put Carter on a flank of the back row and leave the center to Monroe. Monroe deals more damage and takes the best protected slot. Carter stays in the second line and still reaches all allies with his buff. In the five-Warrior squad Arnold and Dirk stand in front, and Lucian takes the other flank.
Who protects Carter, and whom does Carter protect?
Sheriff protects the ally with the highest ATK, which means Carter himself only when no stronger attacker is present. With Lucian at 26,726 ATK or Monroe in the squad, the damage cut goes to them and not to Carter. That is useful, because the strongest attacker is also the one the enemy tries to kill first.
Should I gear Carter as a damage hero?
No. Guides advise against gearing him as a damage hero, because his attack is far behind the real carries and his value comes from the buff. Spend gear and shards on Monroe, Lucian and the tanks first. Carter is raised after them, since without a carry in the squad his buff has nobody to strengthen.
